The future of popular music?

August 17th, 2009

What music is popular goes through big shifts historically. I mean compare The Beatles to The Beach Boys to Mozart to today. What do you think will be popular in the next few years, decades, generations? Personally I have no clue but possibly very dark EBM, future/synthpop or some industrial sub-genres rising in popularity because we seem to be moving to some more experimental, electric music. So any ideas?
OK I’ll admit for a pop artist Lady GaGa’s pretty good but I meant what kind of genres or styles will be really popular in the future not specific artists.

Lady GaGa(:

She is the next Madonna.

Why are people at goth clubs afraid to dance to music with guitars?

August 16th, 2009

The goth scene originally came from punk, so all the originators played music with guitars, and people who frequented the Batcave had no problem dancing to it, but now, if it’s not EBM, it’s like their legs are broken.
There are plenty of new bands that are good, so it’s not for the fact they are just tired of the old music…
Does the sound of the guitar break the modern goth’s foot?
Does electronic music that isn’t futurepop or modern EBM sprain the ankle?

I have no idea why EBM is so popular or why something with as stupid a name as "Electric Body Music" even gets to be taken seriously. Then again, I don’t know why people wear those big chain pants, either.

Goth night makes me feel old. Can’t a girl get some Bauhaus? Let’s all go listen to Unextraordinary Gentlemen and Hellblinki Sextet and pretend EBM didn’t happen.

musicwise, is there darkwave a genre of music?

August 16th, 2009

and only tell me if you really know…don’t just say that it is not cause you have never heard of it before

Hello, yes it is!

Dark Wave
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For the 1956 documentary film, see The Dark Wave.

Dark wave, also written as darkwave, is a music genre that began in the late 1970s, coinciding with the popularity of New Wave and post-punk. Building on those basic principles,[1] dark wave added dark, introspective lyrics and an undertone of sorrow for some bands. In the 1980s, a subculture developed alongside dark wave music, whose members were called "wavers"[2][3] or "dark wavers".[4][5] The British post-punk groups that inspired Gothic rock provided initial impetus for the movement. As a result, dark wave is linked to the Goth subculture.[6][7]

The League of Extraordinary Industrial Retards preview/trailer

August 16th, 2009

The new SORP film coming soon, join DJ Anorexia and Bob Vengeance as they embark on an incredible journey to kill Ronan Harris of VNV Nation in an effort to save Industrial music for all time. For anyone wondering, this trailer is somewhat a parody of the trailer for Terminator Salvation (the one that starts with the same NIN song, just google it) I chose this style because I thought the trailer was exceptionally well done.

Japanese Goth Bands! BAAL, 13th Moon, Demonoid 13 @ Shinjuku Motion dark fetish DJ club party

August 16th, 2009

BAAL, Demonoid 13, 13th Moon… live footage of Japanese Goth bands performing at King of Evil 13 club night party (Shinjuku Motion in Kabuki-Cho, July 11, 2009). Love the latex outfits and 1980s Gothic hair. The spooky Jack Skellington singer hung himself with his microphone cord and caused the crowd to surf!
