What do you think of Autumn Tears? (Not a pop band, lol)?

September 28th, 2009

"The Funeral Bazaar"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyF6tLHet3k

Encyclopedia Metallum lists them as Neo-Classical Experimental with gothic themes, and Wikipedia lists them as symphonic/gothic and darkwave. It all depends on the song, I guess.

Pretty good. Great vocals and I love the intro.

If Marilyn Manson isnt goth what is he?

September 27th, 2009

I know he is not a goth (lol), but I want to know what you would classify his music/image as.

The closest thing I can think of is Industrial

Any thoughts?

reading the other comments:
he is not an emo.
he is not a goth.
and he is no longer shock rock.
his music is industrial, alternative metal and rock.
It use to be glam rock and slight heavy metal.
^ from somebody who knows what their talking about when it comes to marilyn manson.

Looking for an intro song, love scene song, and main action theme for a Dark themed action movie,?

September 27th, 2009

I’m going for music for the Metal, Goth Rock, Darkwave Areas. For the intro I want a softer dark song preferably with no Lyrics. For the main action theme preferably no lyrics but much faster and heavier, kinda super hero thing going on. And for the Love Scene a slow mellow dramatic sound. Even if the songs that come to mind aren’t exactly my criteria, your input is still appreciated, and beside I might find your fits better.
Also I though about it and I also need a good song to go out on, like for the last or maybe second last scene, something for right after the final battle. Can be heavy or soft, just needs to have that touch of anger and torment. So basically I need something to show that the lead character has of course won but feels very little happiness in this victory. Maybe just a little peace of mind if anything.

Rev 22:20 by Puscifer, there are several mixes to this song and probably one without words.

Who here has seen a drag king show? Did you like it? If so, what about it did you like?

September 25th, 2009

If not, what do you think could be improved upon? What sort of songs/music would you like to see a king perform? I am a drag king in Florida. I mostly do punk/goth/industrial performances. Just looking to see if there is something else that the community would like represented. Thanks!
Additionally, I have been kinging for over 2 years. So far, I appreciate the feedback. I’m just looking to see how an audience would prefer to have it "mixed up".

I’ve seen a couple. Odd (as in, not what I was expecting), but good. I dated a king for a while who specialized in big band era songs. Full tux and tails costume, top hat, cane, songs like "I Won’t Dance". The routines were wonderful.

Let us play some more charades…?

September 25th, 2009

So here are a few of mine.
You have to guess the artist who plays either (in no particular order):
heavy metal;
so-called metal;
pure pop;
darkwave;
industrial metal
or melodic death metal.

1. Obscure serenity could be a perfect synonym…
2. Torture device.
3. Name of air base in western Germany, one letter ‘m’ added.
4. A way of calling Satan in more noble name, yet a pronoun as well.
5. "Eternal sleep" in a dead language.
6. Judging after their band name, these guys can only randonly repeat the first few letters of alphabet.
randomly* at 6th

1. Dark Tranquility
2. Iron Maiden
3. Rammstein
4. HIM (stands for "His Infernal Majesty")
5. Eternus Somnus
6. ABBA?

How weird has your……?

September 24th, 2009

Musicial tastes become over the years….as for me started off with s.k.a music in the 80`s………now like goth…electro….darkwave…
its funny how one day you end up liking something you`d never consider before

Totally agree. Grew up with ABBA!!! Got into The Cure, then Smashing Pumpkins, now starting to like Mozart.

I think its good to have ecclectical tastes - it means your mind is open to all new experiences

Is this a weird taste in music?

September 23rd, 2009

If i listen to Screamo, Rap, Hip-Hop, Rock, alternative, Metal, Pop, Techno, indie, Japanese Rock, Spanish Rock, British Pop, Jazz, Classical, Punk Rock, Goth, Funk, Electronica, R&B, Industrial, and New Wave

I think it’s awesome to have a broard spectrum in terms of music and to be open to many genres.

I basically listen to pure rock, punk, alternative, electronica, industrial, techno-rock, gothic rock, indie, post-hardcore, classic rock, metal, love metal, heavy metal, gothic metal, screamo, grunge, indie and the occasional pop/dance rock. =)

best resource (book/website/etc) to learn DJing?

September 21st, 2009

i’ve been DJing goth/industrial for years, but i want to improve and bring the techniques of techno and hiphop DJ’s to the genre. an apprenticeship would be ideal, but does anyone know of a good resource for learning DJing? i’m also interested in remixing and creating my own music…

I found a book called "Ultimate beginner series DJ styles: The Turntable DJ" by Ben James to be a good book (although I never really ended up using it much). Have a look around your local music store, there might be a good instructional book there. Remixing and creating your own music I can’t help you with, sorry.
