Is this goth?

September 21st, 2009

Okay, people always call my friend goth. She never calls herself goth, but I’m starting to think that maybe she is. Here is what she’s like:
-She sometimes wears black, but not all of the time. She likes black eyeliner but rarely wears it. In fact, she doesn’t really wear much makeup ever.
-In music, she likes rock, metal, darkwave, symphonic metal, alternative
-She loves drawing and writing. Her stories are sort of horror/romance, and her drawings are often realistic looking sketches that aren’t colored in
-She knows what goth is. As in, she knows they don’t always wear black, listen to metal, think about death, worship the devil, and all of that.
-She doesn’t really have a specific store she shops at, she just looks around at a bunch of different stores and buys what she likes from them. She never shops at hollister, abercrombie, hot topic (she calls that place mall goth), aeropostale, etc.
-Her personality is creative, reserved, shy but not a pushover, and artistic.

if your asking me to label her, then…
YES. she sounnds like a real goth and she seems to know what Mall Goths are.
yah, but the reason she doesn’t call herself a goth is becuase it’s a can label.

but don’t label her.

I am looking for a particular goth band’s website.?

September 20th, 2009

It was made with flash, mostly black colours and the page had these butterflies mounted on a board that you could click for the different sections of the site. When you did the butterflies started to flutter and they had whispers in the background. One of the pages on the site had riddles that if you answered you got to listen to some of their songs. The over all feel of it, was kind of creepy and I think it was either dark electronic music or industrial.

So the background was a bit like this.
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t evanescence. Something more obscure.
There’s also a chance the website has changed by now.

maybe www.evanescence.com ?

Has anyone ever heard of this band? If not, what do you think of it?

September 20th, 2009

More neoclassical darkwave from me. I’m used to saying Dargaard is my favorite, but I listened to a few songs from this band and, wow. That’s all I can say.

Here’s one of their songs:

If you know of them, PLEASE recommend some good songs from them. Thanks.

If you don’t, then … I guess what are your thoughts?

P.S. They were formed in 2000 as Aranmanoth, renamed to Ordo Funebris in 2002, and re-renamed to Narsilion in 2003. Guess they had trouble making up their minds.
Not to be confused with the melodeath band of the same name (Narsilion) ….
It has rock roots, yes. Where else shall I put it? Rap&Hip Hop?
Lol @ country :)

Yes I have heard of them because someone recommended them to me but I have never listened to them. I am listening to your song right now.

And lol! You should have put them in country!

EDIT: Oh! I thought you were talking about Daargard. Sorry, never heard of Ordo Funebris, but I finished the song and I like it. Good to listen while relaxing. Beautiful melody too…

How is Marilyn Manson an industrial metal band?

September 17th, 2009

No Shock rock is a term used on shock tactitcs on stage not an actual music genre. Goth hells no why because manson has way differnt philosophy than goths. His image seems goth but he is not goth. the meia is bs

He is alternative, Industrial Rock,Industrial Metal

Any fans of dark electronic dance music?

September 15th, 2009

It could be drum & bass or jungle, or industrial, or Neo-Goth or progressive/ dark trance.

It seems like a daunting task, looking for suitable CDs in my country/ area.

Sub-questions: Do you have any difficulty locating your favourite CDs?

Are there any good DJ-mixed CDs out there that are easily available at records stores? It seems like all the good dark electronica is either out of print, not available, or I already have it.

Note: If you do mention any CDs/ DJs, please do state the genre (D & B etc.).

(P.s. I’m talking about DJ-mixed, or compilation CDs, not solo albums – and certainly not MP3s!).

"Gothic Industrial Club Hits" is a decent 3 disk set of a variety of gothic, industrial, and remixed tracks from various bands. Projekt has many good sample CDs for sale that can help you find bands you like. Some personal favs: Razed in Black(industrial), the Cruxshadows(neo-goth), Hungry Lucy(goth), Black Tape For a Blue Girl(ethereal), and VNV Nation(industrial).

I live in SF, so there are good places for music here, but still I usually go on line for my music. Here are two good sites:
