I agree with the people who say that he is shock rock.
He may look like a goth, but he is not.
I personally think he is an insecure old bastard who needs to wipe the makeup off and act like a 38 year old, not a freak show.
I think that Manson is a pathetic, attention-whoring poser.

Most people who don't classify his music as Goth or Gothic rock would say that his earlier music has some industrial inspirations. But for the most part, he is considered Nu-Metal and shock rock.
